FlashAlert - Up to Date Campus Closures

Once again, the internet-based system used for delivering changes/cancellations for school closures to the local media has extended their service to the public.  This is being offered through a system called FlashAlert.  Every employee and student has the ability to self-register and manage up to five home or office email and/or cell phone text message addresses and receive emergency information relating to Mt Hood Community College (MHCC) minutes after it is posted.  This invaluable service is available at no cost to users. Those that have registered for this service in the past will need to renew and update pertinent information to ensure notification in the event of an emergency closure.

To register:

1. Go to www.FlashAlert.net
2. In the left frame, select Subscribe to receive news from participating organizations.
3. Enter your primary email address twice.
4. On the next screen, under Add an Organization, choose the Portland/Vanc/Salem region.
5. Choose Public Colleges & Universities.
6. Select Mt. Hood Community College.
7. Click on Subscribe.
8. Enter up to four more email/cell phone text addresses (optional).
9. To finish, click Update Email Addresses and Send Test Messages.*

To renew or update you registration:

1. Go to www.FlashAlert.net
2. In the left menu bar, select Manage your existing, personal FlashAlert subscription.
3. Sign in with your primary email and password.
4. Review the school subscription and primary email and/or cell phone numbers to which you wish to have messages sent.
5. You will receive a confirmation message to ensure that your renewed registration is complete*.

*Please be aware that with the proliferation of spam and the resulting spam filters, it is impossible to completely guarantee message delivery.  After adding or changing email/cell phone text addresses, the system will send a test message to verify transmittal through your mail servers filters. 

All addresses registered on FlashAlert will remain confidential and shall not be released to any person or organization.  Once a year, you will receive an email at your primary address asking if you wish to continue your subscription.

You are encouraged to take advantage of this service, as it will alert you, almost immediately, to any potential closures or schedule changes.
