Drug and Alcohol-Addictions Counseling


The Mental Health and Human Service Program ( MHHS)  offers college level classes and internship experience that meet most requirements to sit for the Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor I  (CADC I) exam in the state of Oregon.

Requirements for (CADC I) offered within the MHHS degree program include:

HS 111, 112, 113- (Interviewing Skills I, II (Basic Counseling Skills and
III (Cross Cultural Skills)   
Series begins in Fall
PSY 225- Group Counseling Theory and Practice I    Fall
HS 141 Pharmacology of Psychoactive Substances Winter
HS 150 The Effective Helper (Ethics) Winter
HE 208 AIDS and Other Sexually Transmitted Infections Fall, Winter
Internship (HS291 – Seminar and WE280- cooperative education       480 hours toward 1,000 hour CADC I requirement.

Additional Drug and Alcohol/Addictions Counseling Specialization courses include:

HS 142- Addiction Theories Fall
HS 143- Treatment of Addiction Spring
