Become A Super Student
The most important thing you can learn in school is how to learn. If you master
that, you are on the road to success in school and in life. The Learning Success
Center, through its Super Student Program, offers you a powerful way to develop
your study and learning skills. Heres what the program offers:
- Personal plan based on your needs. We will interview you
to get to know your needs in all areas related to academic success. And well
set appropriate goals with you for gaining the learning skills you need.
- Frequent consultations with a Learning Specialist. Our
Learning Specialists are trained in helping you to develop skills in managing
your time, reading textbooks, taking notes, concentrating and memorizing,
and succeeding on tests. They can also help you understand your individual
learning style, and how to use it to advantage. Each Learning Specialist
also has his or her own subject area of expertise in areas such as science
and math, nursing and health careers, and English language learners. Youll
work with the Learning Specialist best equipped to help you succeed. Your
Learning Specialist will counsel you and point you toward additional useful
resources, including Student Success Seminars and a host of software programs
in our computer lab. They will give you custom-designed tasks and monitor
your progress.
- Personal oversight of your progress provided by our Learning
Services Coordinator.
- Certification of your accomplishments. At the conclusion of
each term in the Super Student program, the Learning Services Coordinator
will offer you a statement certifying the progress weve observed in your
understanding of and application of effective learning skills.
Be sure to talk to your teachers about receiving extra-credit for participating
in the program. Participation may also strengthen your resume and talking points
in a future job interview.
Participation in the program may be limited depending on staff availability. For
