MHCC Degree Offerings
MHCC offers five distinct Associate Degrees. All degrees require a minimum of 90 credits for graduation. The following is a brief explanation of each degree as well as a link to download degree worksheets. Students can use these worksheets to plot their progress towards degree completion.
Associate of Arts Oregon Transfer Degree (AAOT)
The MHCC Associate of Arts Oregon Transfer Degree (AAOT) allows students to complete all of their lower division (freshman and sophomore) general education requirements for a Bachelor’s degree. Careful planning also enables students to fulfill many of their lower-division major requirements. The AAOT is accepted at all Oregon University System Schools and many private and out of state colleges and universities. Download a copy of the AAOT Worksheet to see what course options you have to fulfill degree requirements and to keep track of your progress towards degree completion and transfer. Please remember that while the AAOT meets general education requirements for the Bachelor’s degree, it does not necessarily satisfy course, class standing, or GPA requirements for specific majors, departments, or schools.
Associate of Applied Science Degree (AAS)
The Associate of Applied Science Degree (AAS) focuses on a specific career-oriented curriculum. Students pursuing this degree follow a prescribed professional/technical program outline and graduate prepared to enter the workforce in their chosen field. The Associate of Applied Science Degree also includes a set number of general education credits for graduation. Examples of professional technical degrees include Automotive, Horticulture, Hospitality and Tourism and Machine Tool. Download a copy of the AAS Worksheet to help keep track of your degree progress and work with your faculty adviser to ensure you are fulfilling all program requirements. Many of these programs also have transfer potential. Consult your faculty adviser for details.
Associate of General Studies Degree (AGS)
The Associate of General Studies Degree (AGS) is designed for students who wish to pursue a broad general education. Credits may include coursework selected from a variety of professional/technical and college transfer courses. Transferable credits generally include only those courses numbered 100 or higher. Download a copy of the AGS Worksheet and tailor this flexible degree to your professional/personal needs.
Associate of Science
This degree is designed for students who plan to transfer and complete a Bachelors of Science degree at a four-year institution. This option allows students to focus more heavily upon on their discipline (major) requirements.
Associate of Science – Oregon Transfer Degree in Business
The Associate of Science/Oregon Transfer in Business degree (AS/OT –Bus) is a specialized version of the Associate of Science degree that allows business majors to transfer to any institution within the Oregon University System with the guarantee that all lower-division general education requirements are met. Completion of an AS/OT-Bus degree does not, however, guarantee admission to any OUS business school. It is strongly recommended that students contact both an MHCC business faculty advisor, an advisor at the OUS transfer school, and consult the MHCC Catalog for additional information regarding this degree option.
