Mental Health Crisis Services

The Iris Clinic opened January 2nd, 2007. It is an outpatient mental health training treatment clinic, providing a wide range of affordable culturally responsive, psychological services to individuals and families, at an affordable sliding scale fee. It is one of the psychological services that the School of Professional Psychology has to train their students. At the IRIS Clinic, all services are provided in both Spanish and English. The clinic host the students interested in the newly developed Latino Bilingual Track, among others.

IRIS Clinic is open for client referrals (503-352.7333). Address is 222 SE 8th Ave. Suite 232, Hillsboro 97123. Please feel free to print or forward both the attached invitation and the flyer to pass them around other providers and family members.

Multnomah County Crisis Line: 503-988-4888 or 1-800-716-9769. Staffed by trained counselors who provide brief crisis counseling and appropriate referrals. The caller may request dispatch of the “Mobile Outreach Team”, a group of professionals who will meet on location with a seriously distressed person for evaluation and referral. These services are available 24 hours a day.

Alcohol and Drug Referral

Oregon Drug and Alcohol Help Line: 1-800-923-4357. This is a statewide alcohol and drug referral line. They will complete a brief assessment over the phone then refer clients for a drug and alcohol evaluation to an agency that best fits the client’s needs.

Domestic Violence Resources

Domestic Violence Hotlines operate 24 hours per day and provide brief crisis counseling and referrals. Several hotlines will assist women in locating shelter, advocacy services, children’s services and services in Spanish.

Portland Women’s Crisis Line: 503-235-5333. Trained staff and volunteers provide information and referrals for Mental Health, Domestic Violence, Victims Assistance, Sexual Assault and legal information about obtaining restraining orders and other related issues. Crisis intervention and counseling are also offered. This is the number to call for specific bed availability for area shelters.

La Linea de Crisis Para la Mujer: 503-232-4448. Domestic Violence referrals for Spanish speaking clients.


Medication and Follow-up Treatment Resources

Rx Outreach may be able to provide low cost generic medications for selected illnesses based on your income. 1-800-769-3880 www.rxoutreach.com

Healthy Oregon Org.: This on-line resource provides information on Patient Assistance Programs that offer prescription medicines for free to patients who do not have prescription drug coverage or who are uninsured. This site enables patients to fill out an online form and receive a listing of programs for which they may be qualified. http://www.healthyoregon.org

Low Cost or Free Mental Health Services: For a more comprehensive listing of crisis and treatment services, including Spanish language services, look for the Mental Health Guide under the Transition Program on the MHCC website at mhcc.edu

OHP Eligibility Specialists - Multilingual Oregon Health Plan Specialist can help individuals determine OHP eligibility and mental health coverage at county health clinics. Call 503-988-3816 to schedule an appointment.
