Job Description:
Assist customers at WorkSource Portland Metro East in the Career Center. Assist with computer use, solve basic problems with printing, log-in, selecting programs and accessing job search websites. Answer basic program questions and direct customers to appropriate staff for additional assistance. Learn to use and assist customers with iMatchSkills and adaptive software and equipment. Lifeguard for the Aquatic Center
Job Description:
Responsible for insuring the safety of facility patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies. Enforce all Aquatic Center policies, rules, and regulations as well as educating patrons about them. Administer first aid or CPR in case of emergency. Inspect the facility daily and report any unsafe conditions to the supervisor. Participate in quarterly in-service and training practices.
Continually strive to keep abreast of current methods and techniques of lifesaving and first aid. Perform other similar or related duties as required or assigned. Perform minimal maintenance and custodial duties as needed.
Exercise regularly to maintain fitness required for responding to emergencies.
Fill out and submit required records and reports on schedule.
Qualifications:
Current certifications in: Lifeguard Training, First Aid and CPR/PR.

Job Description:
Run the Health and Wellness Resource Center reception area, and interact with the public who come to the office for resources; direct individuals to various health-related resources. Assist the Coordinator with various projects as assigned. Work independently after direction is provided.
Qualifications:
Physically able to get around campus to distribute publicity materials and run errands. Able to carry up to 10 pounds. Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions, and to work VERY independently on assigned tasks. Clear speech and articulation of voice to interact with people. Basic computer skills. Childcare @ Child Development Center
Job Description:
Works under the supervision of the center teaching staff to support the classroom activities. Assists with maintenance of the environment and supervising the children. Refers all parent interactions to teaching staff. Maintain confidentiality for all information received about children and families. Assist with:

  • The set up and clean up of classroom materials and activities
  • The organization and maintenance of shared storage space and outdoor play spaces.
  • The preparation and clean up of meals including dishwashing
  • The supervision of children during activities

You may also be asked to participate in training opportunities and parent education events as requested.
Qualifications:
Valid Food Handlers card; ability to walk, bend stoop, and lift up to 50 lbs on a daily basis; Must enroll in the Oregon Criminal History Registry to receive clearance to begin work. Must have patience and like to work with children. All applicants are subject to fingerprinting and criminal records check as required by ORS 181.537 and child protective services records check.
Wage: $8.40-9.00/hr to start
Shifts: Flexible shifts available Mon-Fri between 7:30 am-5:30 pm

Public Service Assistant in the Library
Job Description:
Under general supervision, functions as a first level assistant performing a variety of library clerical and technical duties of moderate complexity as appropriate to the diverse operations and specialized procedures of the library where assigned.

  • Works at the public service desk.
  • Returns library materials to their proper location in the library.
  • Empties book drops as required.
  • Maintains building security assuring library is picked up and secure.
  • Assists patrons in the use of library materials and facilities.
  • Advises patrons of library policies and regulations.
  • Interacts with the public in person and over the phone.
  • Prepares library for opening and closing.
  • Performs other circulation tasks as required.
  • Works with computers.
  • Makes and distributes MHCC identification cards. 
  • Maintains confidentiality of patron information.
  • Maintains basic office equipment (adding paper to printers and copiers, clearing jams).

Qualifications:
High school graduate or GED. Applicants must be able to communicate and work with adults and students effectively. Must have the ability to push and pull 50 lbs and lift an average of 20 lbs. Must be familiar with computers and speak clear English. Applicants must be able to sort alphabetically and numerically. Must have ability to operate audio-visual equipment, computers, printers, and copiers. During library hour, there will be some exposure to the outdoors while emptying book drops. Employees will not work with hazardous materials but will be exposed to cleaning supplies used in carrel and computer maintenance. A second language is helpful (especially Russian and Spanish) but not required. Keyboarding skills (40-50WPM) preferred. Background check required. 
Wage: $8.40-9.50 an hour

Job Description:

Knowledge of Microsoft Office especially PowerPoint; previous experience filing, organizing, and doing research. Ability to work independently. Must be reliable and responsible.

Clerical Assistant and Receptionist in the Office of College Advancement and Foundation
Job Description:
Perform general office duties, including interacting with College employees and community members, phone and office coverage as needed during the lunch hour; filing and organization of office records and supplies; light typing as needed; run errands and make deliveries on Gresham campus, other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: 
Since this work is in the Office of College Advancement and Foundation, a professional attitude and appearance is essential. The area deals with confidential issues involving students, faculty, staff, and financial matters. Previous office experience desired, including an intermediate skill level in Microsoft Word and Excel. Must have the ability to copy, fax, and scan documents as required. Must be in good physical condition, with the ability and energy to walk around the Gresham Campus and lift 25 pounds if necessary.  Must pass a background check.
Wage:  $8.40 - $9.25 depending on experience
Desired Shifts:  Noon to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday
