How To Pick Up Your Financial Aid
The financial aid you are scheduled to receive will be credited to your student
account each term. You will be notified by email or US Postal mail when your
aid posts to your student account. If the total amount of grants and loans
exceeds your amount owed, a refund will be generated and may be dibursed beginning
the first official day of each term in the MHCC Business Office, Grants & Contracts
Department.
For Summer Term 2008 only:
Picture ID is required to pick up your financial aid check. Checks will be available
in the Grants & Contracts Department on:
| July 1 |
10:30 am to 5:00 pm |
| July 2 |
10:30 am to 5:00 pm |
| July 3 |
10:30 am to 5:00 pm |
Beginning the week of July 7th, checks will be available on Tuesdays and Fridays
from 8:00 am to 5:00pm
Checks not picked up by 5:00 pm each day will be mailed to the address on
file at MHCC. Please be sure your address is correct by logging into
My MHCC and selecting Update My Address from the Quick Links menu.
To receive your Federal Stafford Loan funds, you must be meeting all compliance requirements at least a week before your Stafford loan money arrives. Some examples of this are:
- Must be enrolled for the correct number of credits your financial aid is based on. Being on a wait list does not count.
- Must declare an aid-eligible major with the Admissions, Records & Registration Office.
Your Stafford loan money will not be sent from the lender until you are meeting all the requirements. It is your responsibility to make sure you are meeting all compliance requirements. If you are not sure, you can check in the Financial Aid Office.
Your financial aid is based, in part, on contract credit hours each term.
If those credit hours change before aid has posted to your account, we can
make changes that reflect the new credit hours if you notify the Financial
Aid Office. If you change your credit hours after aid has posted to your account,
no adjustment is possible and further disbursements may be cancelled.
Beginning Fall Term 2008, MHCC will be partnering with Higher One,
a financial services company focused solely on higher education to bring a
new method for receiving your refunds to MHCC students the MHCC Mountain
Card. Please do not throw away this important card since it is your ticket
to a faster refund.
Simply put, your new MHCC Mountain Card is designed to provide you with increased
choice when it comes to receiving your financial aid or school refunds including
the Easy Refund method. Easy Refund is by far the fastest and easiest way to
gain access to your refund money literally the same day MHCC releases it.
Your new MHCC Mountain Card will be mailed to your current address on file with
MHCC. Please activate your card as soon as you receive it. Remember, even if
you are not currently expecting a refund from MHCC, we may have a refund for
you in the future.
MHCC reserves the right to change your financial aid award without prior notice
in the unforeseen event that less student financial aid money is available
than was expected, student use of available financial aid was greater than
expected, or an error occurs in your aid calculation or award..
Receiving Federal Work Study Payments
Time sheets are submitted to the Mt. Hood Community College Payroll Office once each month by the supervisor of work study employees. Work-Study employees (students) must fill out the hours they worked during the previous month, sign and date the time sheet, and give it to their supervisor. Checks are available in the Human Resources Office, Room 2270, on the fifteenth day of the following month. Checks not picked up in Human Resources by 3:00pm on that day are mailed to the address students list on their employment paperwork.
