Geography of Mexico and Central America
|
- W (even numbered years) In this course we will explore Mexico and Central
America as well as the Caribbean from a geographical perspective. This
perspective asks where things are today, what they are made up of, why they are
there, and what their future is likely to be. Topics include the history,
culture, economics, trace, politics, international relations, transportation,
pollution and natural hazards of this neighboring portion of our world.
Specific discussions will include the U.S.-Mexican War, recent conflicts in
Central America, liberation theology, illegal immigration into the United
States, and the development of maquiladoras in Northern Mexico.
