History of the Middle East (Eastern Civilization)

- Su/F/W/Sp This is an introductory survey course of Middle Eastern history
from the first century to the present. Topics covered include the peoples of
the region; the role of Judaism, Christianity and Islam in the region; the
Arab conquests and struggles with older empires in the region; the impact of
the European Crusades; the rise of the Turkish empires in the area; the role of
European imperialism; the impact of Israel; relations between the United
States; and the impact of the American War on Terror upon the region.
