- Sp This course will explore the political, cultural and social forces that
define the United States during the decade of the 1960s. Topics covered will
include the Civil Rights Movement, image and reality in the Kennedy
Administration; the assassinations of John Kennedy, Malcom X, Martin
Luther King, and Robert F. Kennedy; the Vietnam War, the
Anti-war Movement; the emergence of a counterculture, the Women's Movement;
and the music, literature, and films of the era.
