Intro - Contemporary Mathematics
- F/W/Sp This course surveys the broad applicability of mathematics as a problem-solving tool and the breadth of phenomena that mathematics can model. A wide range of real world problems are examined using the tools of mathematics. The course focuses on development of mathematical maturity, and problem-solving. Course topics are selected from probability, statistics, personal finance, population growth, symmetry, linear programming, fair division and voting theory. A computer laboratory is required.
