Painting I
- Su/F/W/Sp The objectives of this course are: 1) manipulation of tools and materials; 2) introduction to basic color wheel, color properties, their mixtures, approaches and interactions; 3) an introduction to basic compositional concerns including placement and scale of subject matter, pictorial balance, volume and spatial depth; and 4) application of the above to the process of painting. Both individual and group criticisms, combined with discussions of painting ideology expand the students perception of themselves as artists within an historical and contemporary context. Sequential.
