Student Senate

The senate deals with issues associated with the needs of students of Mt. Hood Community College, including the student fee budget process, advocating for policy and procedures that support students, and positively representing students to MHCC and local communities. Senators represent different departments and work to keep campus informed and involved.

Why Mt. Hood: I’m attending Mt. Hood because it’s really close to home, it’s affordable, welcoming and it has many great opportunities that make an education possible for anybody that pursues it. The other great thing is that it works as a smooth transition to a university.
Why I chose to be a student leader: The number one reason I chose to become a student leader is because I want to be the voice of the community. As a servant leader I like to serve my community and the students in any way possible. Our students should be aware of all the great opportunities that exist within our campus.
Each day on my way to MHCC: I don’t want to wake up, but I have to. I check my backpack three times to make sure I don’t forget anything. I stop at a coffee shop and I buy a Carmel Frappuccino. I finally arrive to school, and I always end up forgetting something.

After MHCC, I plan to: Transfer to U of O and pursue a bachelor degree in business, then I plan to attend law school. Essentially, I want to have my own law firm.

Why Mt. Hood: I heard about Mt. Hood when I was in Vietnam and I was impressed by the outstanding activities and quality of education. When I officially started here, I knew my choice was right.
Why I chose to be a student leader: I don’t just want to study academic knowledge; I want to get in touch closer with the community and gain valuable lessons as being a member of ASG team.

Why I chose to be a student leader: I wanted to get involved on campus and pick up great skills. It was also a chance to give a little back to the college because it offered me so much.
