Building Analyst & Envelope Professional

Prepare yourself for the fast growing energy efficiency industry. Heating Professional

This is an advanced certification course through Building Performance Institute (BPI). The training will focus on optimizing forced air, domestic hot water, and boiler heating systems for energy efficiency, occupant com­fort, and health and safety from a house as a system approach. BPI certification is the nationally approved training standard of the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® Program of the US Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency. BPI Building Analyst or PTCS certification is a required prerequisite.

HERS Rater

This course will prepare you for Home En­ergy Rater Score (HERS) Certification and will cover building science, energy modeling, and the Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET) standards. Field work will be con­ducted during class and you will complete the two supervised ratings necessary to become a fully fledged HERS Rater while becoming fa­miliar with the diagnostic testing, measurement, and modeling software to produce RESNET Home Energy Rating Scores. RESNET HERS Rater Certification is recognized by the mort­gage industry and allows raters to produce energy models and scores on homes that can allow access to special financing options like energy efficient and energy improvement mortgages. HERS Raters often provide third party verification for the energy efficiency of new construction, particularly beyond code programs such as Energy Star.

PTCS Duct Sealing Technician

Performance Tested Comfort Systems (PTCS) is a certification program for contractors installing, services or inspecting heat pumps and ductwork. In this course, you will learn how to properly size a system, recommend the best equipment, install furnaces and seal ducts to standards that exceed code, and voluntarily submit to third party inspections of work completed. Technicians who suc­cessfully complete the course will become PTCS Certified and eligible to participate in various regional programs sponsored by Bonneville Power Administration, Energy Trust of Oregon, local utilities, and the Or­egon Dept of Energy.

Weatherization Tech

This course is designed to train students how to properly weatherize existing buildings and homes. The student is presented with an appropriate overview of weatherization industry, along with industry standards, codes and best practices. Students will learn about building science basics, overview of systems within the building, and innovative techniques and materials used to make a building more energy efficient. Student will also receive field training where they will perform weatherization and repair activities, including weather stripping, caulking, several types of insulation, duct sealing, water heater blankets, and miscellaneous air leakage repairs.

Abuse Prevention Training: Protective Behaviors

This workshop prepares you to help children understand that they have a right to feel safe, what it means to be safe and to know what to do when they are feeling unsafe. EMT - Emergency Medical Technician, Basic

The EMT program provides practical, hands-on training for individuals seeking employment as a Fire Officer, EMT or Paramedic. Opportunities also exist with home health agencies, emergency rooms, urgent care clinics and hospital transportation services.

Nursing Assistant

The Nursing Assistant (NA) program at Mt. Hood Community College is approved by the Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN). The 150-hour course includes lecture material, skills lab experience and clinical site application. MHCC typically offers this training as either an on-line course, a traditional classroom program or both.

Nursing Assistant trainings are offered each term and require a mandatory information session. Sessions are offered prior to the beginning of each term and require a reservation (RSVP). For information session dates and to RSVP complete the reservation form.

Train the Trainer - Nursing

A practical introduction to adult education theory, Train the Trainer (or Educating the Educator) provides an opportunity to learn active teaching methodologies among nursing peers.
