• MHCC's Annual Mock Funeral Arrangements Event Goes Virtual

Appointments being accepted now for March 2 event.

Each year, Mt. Hood Community College (MHCC) Funeral Services Education students get the opportunity to put what they are learning into practice at the annual Mock Funeral Arrangements Event.

As with everything else in the world currently, this event will be shifted to an online format due to the ongoing pandemic.

    What is changing?
All Mock Funeral Arrangements will be held online via Zoom on March 2 from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. No in-person appointments will be available this year and participants must sign up in advance by either emailing, calling or r texting the Funeral Services Education program:

    What is staying the same?
Everything else - second-year Funeral Services Education students will help participants “plan” a funeral for a loved one or even themselves. This includes going over all options to consider when preparing for an actual funeral, including cost and determining if they would prefer a traditional funeral or cremation. Students will work with participants one-on-one, answering any questions and help participants establish a budget – the only difference this year is that the event is online.

Virtual appointments for Mock Funeral Arrangements are open to all students, faculty, staff and community members. In addition to providing a service to the community, the event serves as an important opportunity for second-year students to put what they are learning in class into practice in a supportive learning environment.
