Rho Theta to Host Red Cross Disaster Preparedness Training
Mt. Hood Community College’s Phi Theta Kappa honor society chapter, Rho Theta, will host an American Red Cross certification training aimed at preparing people to serve as Red Cross volunteers during disaster situations. The training will take place Saturday,
April 14, from 1 – 4 p.m. in MHCC’s Student Union (AC1001).
Rho Theta has spent the last six months focused on teaching the MHCC community and community at large about disaster preparedness as part of the chapter’s annual service training project.
“We want people to ask themselves, ‘Am I ready for a fire, flood or earthquake if it were to hit home?’” said Brenna Schmidt, Rho Theta officer. “’How would I support my neighbors and community?’ One way is by becoming Red Cross certified.”
The free one-day training will certify people to serve as Red Cross volunteers. Trainees will also have the option of completing Red Cross first aid training.
