After three very successful seasons, Vandenboer will be moving on to the four-year level at Linfield College. After taking over a program that was 7-21 in 2016-17, Vandenboer led the Saints to a 51-35 record and three straight trips to the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) Basketball Championship Tournament. The Saints were positioned to make a strong run in the tournament this year after winning their first game but had their hopes cut short when it was postponed and then cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Vandenboer put the Saints in the conversation among the top teams in the NWAC and helped them win the 2018-19 NWAC President’s Cup.

“Coach Vandenboer has changed the culture of our women’s basketball program and put us in a position to be successful moving forward,” said Dr. Kim Hyatt, MHCC’s Athletic Director. “I am extremely grateful for all of his efforts. He consistently recruited outstanding women to our program who have excelled in the classroom and on the courts. We are going to miss Jeremy and wish him the very best in his next endeavors.”

Assistant Coach Alex Guevara will take over the program as the new head coach of the Saints.  Coach Guevara served as an assistant for both the men’s and women’s basketball programs this year and immediately made a positive impact.

“Coach Guevara has an excellent reputation and really stepped up this year to help both of our programs and earned this opportunity,” Hyatt said. “I look forward to watching him continue to build this program. We have a great group of women returning from our team this past year and with an outstanding recruiting year, the future looks very bright!”
