Items donated by the Amazon Mega Warehouse in Troutdale
are packaged up and delivered to MHCC for
distribution to students in need.MHCC continues to extend assistance and services to students who need it most, even while campus is closed. The donation from Amazon, received on May 8, will help the college provide food and personal hygiene products to students via Barney’s Pantry.
The donation is valued at approximately $29,000 and includes everything from dental hygiene and skin care products to vitamins, snacks and other packaged food items.
“This is a great example of how a local business is doing what it can to assist our students during this time of need. Amazon’s support is greatly appreciated especially since they have indicated that more assistance is yet to come,” said Al Sigala,
Executive Director of Development and Communications for the MHCC Foundation.
This is the second donation made by the Amazon Mega Warehouse in Troutdale to MHCC’s food pantry. The first occurred in March and totaled in 2,300 pounds of food and personal hygiene products carrying an approximate value of $25,000.
Students can arrange to pick up items from Barney’s Pantry by taking the following steps:
- Email Doctor Abio Ayeliya, Director of Student Life and Civic Engagement
- Students will be sent a list of available supplies and reply with the list of what they need (limitations apply).
- College staff will box up the items listed and arrange a time for the student to come pick it up either at the bookstore or Student Union on the Gresham campus. (Strict social distancing guidelines will be in place.)
Important Note: Students will be required to show their MHCC ID upon pick-up.
