Looking to stay cool this summer? Check out what’s happening at the MHCC Aquatic Center. In addition to providing summer swimming lessons for children and adults, the Aquatic Center offers drop-in open rec swimming, Monday – Friday. Additionally, the natatorium will host Dive-In Movie Nights on July 20 and August 3 and 10. Watch 1980s classics – including Back to the Future and E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial – on a giant screen in front of the outdoor pool as you lounge in floats.

Have kids who want to spend the summer exploring? Enroll them in the MHCC Aquatic Center’s weeklong Summer Day Camps (for ages 7 – 12). Each week features a new theme and new activities. On Super Heroes week (July 23 – 27) campers will fly sky high at the G6 Airpark, and on Silly Science week (July 30 – Aug. 3) they’ll have the chance to don lab coats and investigate the exhibits at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI).

Bring the family to one of several events occurring at the college this summer. Every Saturday, from 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., through September 29, vendors at the Gresham Saturday Market at MHCC will offer up fresh produce and handcrafted goods in the college’s parking lot W. You can also catch a baseball game at MHCC: the Gresham GreyWolves play their home games at the college’s Oslund Field throughout July and August. Have a car enthusiast in the family? Bring him or her to the annual Cruise-In at MHCC, hosted by the local Mt. Hood Mustangs and Fords club on Sunday, July 15. Finally, on July 20-21, one of the longest running events held at MHCC – the Portland Highland Games – returns! Listen to bagpipes, watch caber tosses and more events, and enjoy Scottish food and culture at this fun, family friendly event.
