    A vehicle fleet is maintained by the College as primary transportation for, but not limited to, facilities management and the Head Start program.
    1. Driver Eligibility and Certification
      1. Drivers of College or rental vehicles must be approved and certified by the College’s environmental health & safety department. 
      2. To obtain certification a driver applicant must present a valid driver’s license, an application to drive College vehicles and complete vehicle safety training. No College vehicle or rental may be driven by a driver who has not been certified and approved.
      3. An abstract of a driver’s record will be obtained from the Department of Motor Vehicles. A driver’s acceptability will be determined by the College’s environmental health & safety department on the basis of the driver’s record.
      4. The College and/or the College’s insurance company may require specific information regarding an individual’s health to determine if a condition exists which could limit the ability to operate a vehicle in a safe manner.
      5. Permission to operate College vehicles may be suspended or revoked by the College and/or the College’s insurance company at any time from persons:
        1. With unacceptable driving histories
        2. Who are physically incapable of driving
        3. Using College vehicles for purposes other than official business
        4. Whose conduct in connection with the use of College vehicles is not in the best interest of the College
        5. Who do not observe the Board policy and administrative regulation regarding no tobacco use of any kind in the vehicle
        6. Who do not observe the driving laws: seat belts; cell phone usage; speed limits; reckless driving; etc.
      6. The use of College vehicles for regular home-to-office travel is not authorized.  Vehicles will not be used for personal reasons under any circumstances and will be limited to official use only. This regulation will apply to all vehicles owned, leased, or controlled by the College.
      7. Seat belt systems will be operational at all times and will be used by driver and passengers.
