The Financial Aid Office is charged with facilitating employment of students working on or off campus. Combination of employment as a student aide and federal work study must be approved by the Financial Aid Office.
Managers of students are responsible to monitor and direct students to meet the area’s work assignments. Managers of the area are responsible for providing a safe work environment and take recommendations from a manager of students to begin or end student’s employment in their area.
- Student Aide Employees (SA)
Student aide employees can work up to a maximum of 1,000 hours per fiscal year and are not considered members of the classified employees association.
Student employment is based on enrolling in six credits or more per term. One term may be less than six credits. Employment will cease if a student is enrolled in less than six credits for two consecutive terms.
Student employees are not permitted to work over 20 hours per week during school sessions. During breaks between terms, student employees may work up to 40 hours per week. Overtime is not permitted during school sessions. Any overtime during breaks is discouraged, but permissible if approved by the manager prior to working the hours.
- Federal Work Study Employees (FWS)
FWS employees can work and earn up to the maximum amount of FWS awarded per term. FWS is part of a financial aid award, and FWS employees are not considered members of the classified employees association.
Students’ eligibility to work will be based on enrolling in the number of credits for which financial aid was awarded. Continued employment is contingent upon successfully maintaining satisfactory academic progress each term.
FWS employment can be cancelled by the Financial Aid Office if the student does not meet financial aid standards of compliance.
FWS employees are not permitted to work over 20 hours per week during school sessions. During breaks between terms, student employees may work up to 40 hours per week. Overtime is not permitted during school sessions. Any overtime during breaks is discouraged, but permissible if approved by the manager prior to working the hours.
