• Winter Bridge Program

In early September, Mt. Hood Community College unveiled the Summer Bridge program, a three-day intensive experience filled with interactive workshops, advising, training and guidance all designed to help new students navigate the ins and outs of college life at MHCC. The program was a rousing success with nearly 120 students taking part.

Following on that success, MHCC is hosting a shortened one-day version Winter Bridge program on December 10, from 9am-3pm. It is free of charge, but interested students must rsvp in advance. Students interested in taking part must be students who are new to Mt. Hood Community College. Free lunch will be provided and there will also be giveaways of free college swag during the event.

"Our goal is help students prepare for their first term in college by alleviating first day/first week stress and increase their knowledge of college culture and accountability," said Matthew Farina, AVID Learning Specialist from the college's AVID/Learning Success Center. "Students will have the opportunity to build relationships with fellow students, staff, and faculty in an informal environment."

A portion of the funding for program supplies and student scholarships is provided through an Oregon Department of Education College Access Grant.
