Club Charter Application
Ready to start your club? You'll need a club charter. You can fill out the charter application online. Email questions to Student Clubs and Organizations.
How to start a student club
Hold an informal meeting of interested students to establish the club's purpose and objectives. If a faculty or staff member has been identified as a potential adviser, extend an invitation to them for the meeting.
Complete the Charter Application form using the link above. This form includes detailed and important information on the purpose and intent of the proposed student club or organization. You'll need at least eight currently enrolled students interested in joining the club.
Identify an MHCC faculty or staff member who agrees to be the club’s adviser. A student club can have co-advisers, with one not necessarily being an MHCC employee. However, the main "advisor of record" must be an MHCC employee.
You'll need a club constitution to be an official club (i.e., chartered.) Create a constitution by following the example and instructions listed in the packet. All sections of the sample constitution should be considered when creating your constitution. Need help?

Submit the Club Charter form linked above. Your request will be forwarded to the ASG Director of Student Organizations Council Staff Advisor, who will prepare the material for consideration by the ASMHCC Executive Cabinet and the Student Senate. You will be notified when your request moves through the process from one group to the next so that you can attend any meetings and answer questions as needed.
Once your club is officially approved and chartered, the Student Life Office will set-up a club financial account and complete other processes to make the club active. To keep your club active, a representative of the club is required to attend meetings of the Student Organizations Council. This is for appropriate planning and the coordination of club and organizations programs, activities and efforts.
