Early Childhood Education Career Pathway for English Language Learners

  • Mt. Hood Community College, WorkSource Portland Metro Gresham, and Child Care Resource and Referral – Multnomah County created a career pathway in Early Childhood Education that provides the education, training, and credentials educators need for advancement in the early learning workforce. This career pathway deploys a mixed delivery system and intentionally provides supports to  individuals who experience language and or academic skills barriers to training and employment. Multiple training entry and exit points and availability of stackable credentials enable students to earn a credential, gain valuable work experience, and then come back to college to build their credentials and advance in their career.

It is our hope that the curricula and program materials herein can inform practice statewide so that we can meet the critical need for culturally-and linguistically responsive childcare for all Oregonians.
