• AVID Center: General Help & Academic Coaching

  • AVID Learning Specialists are here for you!

    AVIDGroup

As your academic coaches, we can help you adjust to online learning, get you connected to the right resources, help you make a useful study schedule, teach you how to prepare for exams, and more. It’s our job to teach you all the “hidden” info about college so that you can be more successful. Just let us know you need help and we can make a plan. You can ask us any questions- if we don’t know the answer, we’ll connect you to the person who does.

    Summer Term 2020 Open Hours: Monday-Thursday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Get help during open hours the following ways:

    1. Join our Zoom room: https://zoom.us/j/10753896
      • Click on the link above
      • You will arrive in our waiting area. Next, a tutor will admit you to the main Zoom room, introduce themselves to you, and ask a few questions to get started.
    2. Send an email to AVID@mhcc.edu with your question at any time and a staff member will reply during open hours. Please include:
      • A subject – something simple like “study help” will ensure we receive the message in our inbox
      • Your name and 6-digit MHCC ID
      • So that we can help you, please also include:
        • What kind of help do you need?
        • If this is for an assignment, when is the assignment due?
        • If this is for a specific class, what is the class? Who is the instructor?
        • Anything else you think is important
      • Note: We prefer that you use your Saints email address if you are able to access it at this time. If not, let us know and we will help.
    3. Give us a call at call 503-491-7331
      • If no one answers, please leave a voicemail with your name, phone number, best time to reach you, and reason for calling. We will call you back as soon as possible during open hours.

This way of learning is new for all of us and we want to know what is working well or needing improvement. Please send such comments to the area coordinator (Sarah.Aimone@mhcc.edu). Thanks for your patience and we look forward to supporting your learning!
