SHS230 :  Sustainable Business Practice

This course begins with a general review of the current state of most business practices. Students are introduced to the concept of business sustainability using the Natural Step as a framework for evaluations. Basics of environmental management systems are discussed and applied to a theoretical application. Class discussions provide real world applications. Operational costs, worker health and safety, liability, public relations benefits and alternative concepts to the gross national product are covered.
Prerequisite: SHS101 and CH170; or instructor consent.
