• How to Get Started

  • Registering for Integrated Media classes for Fall 2017

There is no application process to register for Integrated Media. Integrated Media is an open entry program that begins in the fall term only. Prospective students are admitted on a space available basis after academic criteria has been met. Registration for fall term begins in late May.

Follow this simple 3-step process to register

    1. Submit an MHCC Student Admission Form. New students and those returning after four terms or more will need to submit this form, available online here: MyMHCC.edu

    2. Meet the minimum proficiencies in reading, writing and mathematics which can be satisfied by placement into MTH60, WR115 and RD115 on the MHCC College Placement Test (CPT) or by completing MTH20, WR90 and RD90 (or equivalent transfer courses demonstrated through official transcripts on file at MHCC).

For information about the College Placement Test, call 503-491-7678. There is no charge. The test is administered by computer, and takes about an hour. You'll know your results immediately.

    3. Choose a focus area: Broadcasting, Graphic Design, Photography or Video

Students interested in BROADCASTING should register for:
      RB150: Broadcasting I
      J216: Reporting I
IM178: Integrated Media Overview (either section)
      (See Below) IM120, IM122, IM123, IM124, IM125 – same section number for each course

Students interested in GRAPHIC DESIGN should register for:
      GD150: Principles of Graphic Design
IM178: Integrated Media Overview (either section)
      (See Below) IM120, IM122, IM123, IM124, IM125 – same section number for each course).

Students interested in PHOTOGRAPHY should register for:

      (See Below) IM120, IM122, IM123, IM124, IM125 – same section number for each course

Students interested in VIDEO should register for:

      ALL students should register for:

      IM122: Basic Image Editing
      IM123: Basic Sound Editing
      IM124: Basic Non-Linear Editing
      IM125: Basic Page Layout

Students will register for the same section number for each of these courses. Each of these courses will have section 01 open for registration, and once that section fills up, we will then open section 02 for registration. Once that fills up, we will open section 03 and then 04.

If you try to register, and it shows that section is full, get on the waitlist for the class. We will then manually move waitlisted students into the next section that we open up. The Admissions Department will notify you when you are placed into a course and section by us.

    Continuation requirements for Winter term

Fall term students must have the consent of their IM Program faculty adviser and meet the proficiencies of the program classes to be qualified for Winter Integrated Media courses. At that time, the student's major will be changed to Integrated Media. Until Winter term, you'll be considered a general student.
