• Multnomah County Adult Care Home – English Competency Testing

  • Those interested in becoming an Adult Care Home Operator or Resident Manager are required to take an assessment to demonstrate English Competency, and may be required for some caregivers. This test is offered at Testing Services, located on the Gresham Campus.

    What to Expect

    You will be taking a Reading and Listening test, both of which are administered on computer. It will take approximately 75 minutes per test.

    How to Schedule your test

    Step 1:    Obtain an MHCC ID#. To do this, please apply for admission to the college by completing the General Admission Application located at https://www.mhcc.edu/Apply/

    Step 2:   After receiving your ID#, pay the non-refundable testing fee by clicking here. Each test is $10.00 and you must take both tests (reading and listening).

    Step 3: Email testing@mhcc.edu to request your testing appointment. Include an attachment of your payment receipt. A very limited number of appointments are available and are restricted to Mondays only.

    Step 4: When you arrive on campus for your appointment, park in Lot F and proceed directly to Testing Services, Building 13, Room 2335. Please wait outside and a staff member will let you in at your appointment time. Please bring photo ID. You will be required to wear a mask while inside Testing Services.

    What happens next?

    • You will receive a copy of your test results immediately upon completion
    • MHCC will also send a copy of your results to Multnomah County
    • Retests, if necessary, are $10 per section.
