Maintenance and Light Repair (MLR) Automotive

  • The Automotive Technology – Maintenance and Light Repair (MLR) certificate program is designed to provide the skills necessary to perform basic repairs such as replacing light bulbs, drive belts, coolant pumps, wheel bearings, engine sensors, suspension components, filters and spark plugs. It also focuses on performing necessary periodic maintenance, usually scheduled at 10 or 15,000-mile intervals and that involve the various fluids in the vehicle as well as relatively basic components with finite life spans.

Dealerships and/or independent auto repair facilities see the students in this program as the “maintenance and light repair technicians of the future.” The automotive technology labs at MHCC are equipped with some of the finest and most up-to-date equipment available. Participating in this program means learning the latest in automotive technology.
