Important issues such as threats and vulnerabilities in the power grid and others will be the topic. This event is open to all who are interested.

    Peder Jungck to Speak at MHCC

    Peder Jungck is the Senior VP and Chief Technology Officer with CloudShield Technologies - an SAIC Company. He is coming to MHCC to speak with us about the state of Cyber Security in the US today and discuss trends, careers, and opportunities. Mr. Jungck is also the keynote speaker at this year's annual meeting of the Pacific Northwest Defense Coalition (PDNC). This event is open to anyone who wants to attend.

    White House Servers Hacked

    October 2, 2012. The Washington Free Beacon reports that hackers linked to the Chinese government have infiltrated the White House network using a "spear phishing" attack. Reporter Bill Gertz writes "broke into one of the U.S. government’s most sensitive computer networks, breaching a system used by the White House Military Office for nuclear commands" while the Huffington Post reports the hackers only gained access to an "unclassified network". Hmm...

    Fall ISTM classes at capacity

    CyberSecurity classes under the ISTM banner opened to capacity classes with all sessions having wait-lists. MHCC Dean Rodney Barker has directed the ISTM183A class to be run again in the Winter 2013 term, and ISTM183B to be run again in the Spring 2013 term.

    October is CyberSecurity Awareness Month

    October 2012 is the ninth annual CyberSecurity Awareness Month. According to FBI Director Robert Mueller, “cyber security may well become our highest priority in the years to come.”
