• Title IX – Sexual Harassment Complaints

  • Complaints of sexual harassment that do not rise to the level of assault may be handled through the sexual harassment complaint process.

It is MHCC's policy that sexual harassment of any employee or student will not be tolerated. Sexual harassment is any unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature that is unwelcome behavior or display whether physical or visual in nature which meets the following criteria:

    • Submission to such conduct is either explicitly or implicitly made a term or condition of an individual's employment, education or participation in a college activity; or
    • Submission to, or rejection of, such conduct by an individual is used as a basis for employment or education decisions affecting such individuals; or
    • Such conduct has the purpose or effect of unreasonably interfering with an individual's work, education or participation in college activities or creating an intimidating, hostile or offensive environment.

The policy also addresses consensual relationships between students and college employees, and supervisors and employees.

The college has published a Freedom from Harassment and Discrimination brochure, which provides information about sexual harassment, actions that can be taken when faced with harassment and where to get help. You may request a printed copy from the Human Resource Office or click here for the online text only version.
