Free tutoring for Mt. Hood Community College (MHCC) students in math, science, and anatomy and physiology is offered online and in-person. You do not need an appointment for assistance in these subjects. Come to our location on campus above the library any time during our hours for your subjects or, for online help, use the free e-Tutoring access provided for MHCC students. What to Expect from Math and Science Tutoring
When questions arise while doing your homework and you ask a tutor about them, the tutor will use examples. You will make notes together to help you to complete your item. If you tell a tutor the skills you’d like to improve, they’ll find examples from the book or from your class materials. Tutoring helps you learn what you need to complete the work on your own, rather than helping you complete a certain assignment.
If your teacher has stated that “no help is allowed,” then a tutor will not help. Your tutor will need to see assignment instructions before helping. Tutors will not assist with items on tests.
How to Schedule Meetings for Test Preparation
Tutoring follows a drop-in format. If you expect to have a challenging term and want a test preparation plan, then schedule a meeting with an academic coach. Our academic coaching staff includes several math specialists who can help you prepare for tests. You can self-schedule meetings with academic coaches online.
