    The Art of Polymer Clay

    Polymer clay is one of the most fun art mediums ever invented! Join Berdell Moffett-Chaney for her class as she helps you create a masterpiece of your own in mere minutes. Supplies included. Students will leave with 1 piece of art. Presented by MHCC’s Community Education Instructor, Berdell Moffett-Chaney. Maximum 8 students.

    Watercolor and Collage Demonstration

    Join MHCC Community Education Instructor Berdell Moffett-Chaney as she does a demonstration on watercolor painting and the art of collage. Learn the tricks of the watercolor trade and see the magic of “absence of color”. With collage, Berdell will demonstrate that it is much more than paper and glue. You will discover how your creative juices will unfold as you start with a plan and end with an unexpected surprise. During the second half of the workshop, students will get to create some art of their own! Supplies included. Presented by MHCC’s Community Education Instructor, Berdell Moffett-Chaney.     Rocking Tattoo Art for Kids

    With supplies provided by instructor  Meridith Fischer, kids will select a temporary tattoo and apply it to a pre-painted rock. Using paint pens they will embellish the rock to create a unique piece of art. Once the artwork is complete, spray sealant is used to help retain the images for display indoors or outdoors. Parent supervision is required as this is a "team" crafting situation. There will be instructional handouts for you to take as well. Offered by Meridith Fischer. Maximum 10 children at a time.

    The 3 Little Pigs and the Huffy Puffy Wolf

    Join Penny's Puppets on this musical journey for this traditional tale with a twist. YES! The 3 little pigs all have to move out of mom’s house and build houses on their own. YES! The Big Bad Wolf huffs and puffs and tries to blow all their homes down. BUT…in the end, where does all this huffing and puffing get him? Tired and alone. Discover some coping skills when having a bad day and laugh and rejoice with the 3 little pigs and their unlikely friend the Huffy Puffy Wolf. Presented by Penny Walters of Penny’s Puppet Shows.

    The Puppet Town Musicians

    Penny puts her twist on the traditional German folk tale “The Bremen Town Musicians.” Penny’s lovable puppets want to begin new lives. They have grown older and feel useless at the farm. Donkey wants to sing, not carry heavy loads. D-O-G no longer can chase sheep and prefers to play her rocking guitar. Puss in Boots wants to retire from hunting mice and would rather chase his dream of becoming famous. Forgetful Mother Goose wants to put a fresh spin on her lyrics. They all decide to leave the country life together and head towards “Puppet Town” to create a band. Enjoy this original musical puppet production where music and friendship shine through.     During this one-hour workshop, attendees will be educated on the entire home buying process from start to finish.     Hatha Yoga

    You may be new to the Yogic adventure, or may have spent countless hours in graceful breath and movement. Wherever you are in your journey, this course will serve in elevating your skill in Yoga and support your well-being. Yogi Nasser, has been teaching Hatha Yoga since 1994. His classes are conducted with an emphasis on conscious thought, breath, and movement. The practice is non-strenuous, yet challenging, and accommodates all abilities. This is a two-hour class.     How Stress Affects Us and Ways We Can Adjust it

    Through a conversational approach, this class considers how the brain warns of danger by triggering the fight-or-flight response. Class discussion will center on the multiple ways we can lower the level of excessive stress so you can enjoy more happiness and success in your life. This class may be extended by 30 minutes, if you choose to stay for an in-depth question and answer session afterwards with professional counselors. Presented by Eugene Utley, Ph.D.

    Navigating Conflict- Using Powerful Questions

    From time-to-time we all experience tough situations with our neighbors, tenants, landlords, roommates or those we work with. If these situations aren’t resolved, they can grow into really troublesome problems. This training will teach conflict resolution skills through communication and asking powerful questions.     Solar Observatory

    Visit MHCC's Solar Observatory to observe live activity on the surface of our sun. Even if the sun does not shine over the Strawberry Short Course Festival this year, the instrument itself is a unique curiosity and represents a triumph of amateur astronomy. The MHCC Solar Observatory is a handmade astronomical instrument that was designed and donated by science educator and community member Dell Wiseman and commemorates MHCC's enduring commitment to our community.
