  • Welcome to career and counseling services at Mt. Hood Community College! We believe that career counseling shouldn't be considered a last resort. In fact, it's one way to start your education on the right foot. We are excited to support your education, employment and career success and will be with you from start to finish.

    Career Related Credit Classes
    Career Counselors teach College Success and Career Planning classes in addition to meeting with students about their college and career success. You can find these courses in the Human Development section of the schedule and catalog. See list of HD courses and their descriptions Register today!
    Undeclared/Exploratory Advisers
    If you have not decided on a major, you are not alone. Over half of all incoming students have not decided on a major. Your major will be listed as "undeclared/exploratory" and you will be assigned to the Career Planning and Counseling Center Career Counselors as your advisers. We will help you explore your options here at Mt. Hood Community College and beyond, including employability and average wages and job outlook for the career paths you are interested in.
    Help Choosing/Changing a Major
    Haven't chosen a major yet? Or, unsure if the major you chose is the right one for you? A Career Counselor can help you choose a career or major based on your personality, interests and strengths, plan for a career change and/or understand.
    Internship and Job Search Help
    Make an appointment today for personalized help with resumes, cover letters, interviews and internship/job search resources. We can also help you develop your professional network and access volunteer and job shadow opportunities needed to gain experience in your fields of interest. Review volunteer, internship and job opportunities posted by our employer partners on our Online Job Board. You will need your MyMHCC login Information to access the job board. Mt. Hood Community College also has staff that can help at WorkSource Portland Metro East that offer job search skill workshops and connection to local hiring employers.
    Personal Counseling
    Stressed out by being a college student? Having a personal emergency and need to talk to someone? Our professional counselors provide brief solution focused counseling for enrolled students. They can assist you with personal problems that are interfering with your life, academic and/or career success. If you are currently in a crisis, feeling stressed, or upset, please stop by room AC1152 on our Gresham Campus which is located in between the Bookstore and the Student Union, or call 503-491-7432.
