MHCC's Spanish program, based in San Isidro del General, Costa Rica, provides a unique immersion experience. San Isidro del General is a town of 70,000 that is well situated for its proximity to Pacific beaches renowned for surfing. Students earn a full year's college Spanish credits in eight weeks, spending one week at MHCC and seven in Costa Rica. Live with a local family, study at Spanish Language and Environmental Protection Center (SEPA School) with native speakers, and explore national parks and beaches on weekends. This intensive yet enjoyable program offers a gateway to the rich culture and landscapes of the southern Pacific coast.

  • Earn a minimum of 15 transfer credits.
  • Enjoy a home stay with a family in San Isidro del General. 
  • Receive individual attention from instructors who are qualified native speakers in classes that include conversation, grammar and writing, as well as Costa Rican history, cooking, and culture.
  • Begin to think in Spanish within a week, thanks to immersion. 
  • Financial Aid can be applied towards the cost of the program.
  • Group size is limited to 20 students.
