Mt. Hood Community College Athletes Excel in NWAC Recognition and Spring Season Preparations
March 12, 2024Mt. Hood Community College (MHCC) proudly announces the outstanding achievements of its student-athletes in the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) and the promising start to the spring sports season.
Autumn Baumgartner, a sophomore representing the women’s basketball team, has been named to the prestigious NWAC Southern Region All-League – First Team and also secured a spot on the All-Defensive Team. Baumgartner's remarkable performance saw her finish the season as the fourth-leading scorer in the NWAC, while simultaneously leading the league in steals. Makayla Patterson and Laci Pentzer earned honorable mentions reflecting the depth of talent within the MHCC women’s basketball program.
On the men’s side, Wayne Hampton, another MHCC sophomore, has garnered NWAC Southern Region All-League- Second Team honors for his exceptional contributions to the men’s basketball team. Amir Plair and Pat Robinson earned honorable mentions for their commendable performances throughout the season.
As the winter sports season concludes, MHCC's attention now shifts to the excitement of spring sports. The Saints softball team has stormed into the pre-season rankings, claiming the third spot and maintaining an undefeated record. The Saints softball team also beat the top-ranked North Idaho Cardinals this past weekend. Fans eagerly anticipate their upcoming match against Clackamas on Friday, March 15 at 3 p.m., where the team aims to extend their winning streak.
In baseball, the Saints have already made waves by defeating the top-ranked Lower Columbia Red Devils. Buoyed by this victory, they now prepare to face the Chemeketa Storm in their upcoming game on Saturday, March 16 at 12 p.m., with hopes of continuing their success.
