The program provides you with the knowledge and skills to transfer to a four-year college to complete a bachelor's degree in chemistry. Future career paths include areas as far-reaching as medicine and health, energy, research, and geologic science.

The Experience

Program Details

Chemistry is the study of matter, and its interactions with other matter and energy. The Chemistry program at MHCC will introduce you to key concepts in chemistry through class work and labs. The Chemistry major at MHCC lets you earn most of your core credits at a lower cost before transferring to a four-year school to finish your bachelor’s degree. If you want to transfer to a four-year school, you should work with your transfer school of choice and an MHCC advisor to make sure you are taking the right classes.

Your future

With a degree in chemistry, you can go on to work in different types of labs including crime forensics, food science, fermentation, and more. You can also become a teacher. Many careers in science require you to earn a four year degree or higher. MHCC works with a number of four-year institutions to make sure your credits can easily transfer for completion of your bachelor’s, including: Eastern Oregon University, Oregon State University, Portland State University, Southern Oregon University, University of Oregon, and Western Oregon University.
