Once you’ve completed the video program at Mt. Hood Community College (MHCC), you will have the skills needed to find work as a camera assistant, digital image tech (DIT), grip, boom operator, production assistant, or assistant editor. Camera Operators, Television, Video, and Film

In these roles, you will compose and frame each shot, applying the technical aspects of light, lenses, film, filters, and camera settings to achieve the effects sought by directors. Or you will operate television or motion picture cameras to record scenes for television broadcasts, advertising, or motion pictures.

Film and Video Editors

As a film or video editor, you are responsible for editing films and videotapes to insert music, dialogue, and sound effects, arranging films into sequences, and correcting errors using editing equipment.

Media Technical Directors/Managers

As a media technical director or manager, you will supervise and assign duties to workers engaged in technical control and production of radio and television programs. You must also monitor broadcasts to ensure programs conform to station or network policies and regulations.

Producers and Directors

As a producer or director, you will research production topics using the internet, video archives, and other informational sources. You will study and analyze scripts to determine how to direct them.

Media Programming Directors

As a media programming director, you will check completed program logs for accuracy and conformance with Federal Communications Commission rules and regulations and resolve program log inaccuracies. You also establish work schedules and assign work to staff members.
