MHCC Extends Deadline
Wanted: Families to Host Japanese Students
If you are interested in hosting a University student from Japan for three weeks, contact Mt. Hood Community College (MHCC). The deadline for requesting an application has been extended by one week, to Jan. 21.
Families who are interested in hosting University students from Japan are asked to contact Mt. Hood Community College (MHCC) by Jan. 21.
Sixteen Japanese students, ages 18 to 23, will participate in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classes at MHCC each weekday morning, Feb. 19 – March 13. In addition, students will enhance their knowledge of American culture by taking three field trips to the surrounding area.
In order to give students the best possible experience, the College asks host families to provide breakfast and dinner, and ensure that students have transportation to and from MHCC. Host families must speak English while the student is present. An individual bedroom is preferred and a shared bathroom is acceptable. Host families will receive a stipend to help defray additional household expenses.
Families who have registered to host a student are asked to attend an orientation meeting, Jan. 28, 6:30 – 8 p.m. in room AC2550 on the Gresham Campus, 26000 SE Stark St. MHCC students who wish to assist the Japanese students are asked to attend an orientation meeting in room AC2399, same date and time.
