‘This Show Can’t Stop Partying’
MHCC Theatre Presents Rocky Horror Show
Posted: January 27, 2011
The Mt. Hood Community College (MHCC) theatre department will present the musical, Richard O’Brien’s Rocky Horror Show, at the College Theatre, 26000 SE Stark Street in Gresham.
Performances are slated Feb. 17 – 19 and 24 – 26 at 7:30 p.m., Feb. 19 at midnight and Feb. 27 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $12 for students and $15 for adults. Tickets are available online or from the box office, 503-491-7154.
“This cult classic has been entertaining audiences for decades,” says Jenn Hunter, director and instructor at MHCC. “The story is of two clean cut kids, Brad Majors and Janet Weiss, who run into car trouble and seek help from the site of the light down the road. Little do they know the light is coming from the place where Dr. Frank ‘N Furter is in the midst of his maniacal experiments.”
The lead roles will be played by Coleton Sticka (Brad) and Elizabeth Sanchez (Janet). The cast and crew of 30 have been rehearsing and building scenery since early January.
“This production is bursting at the seams with timeless favorites, but updated a bit. Rocky’s themes revolve around individuality and self-expression, so the choreography, costume and set designs have been inspired by the pop icon who stands for the very same, Lady Gaga!” says Hunter.
“Make no doubt about it – this show is all about having fun,” enthuses Hunter, adding that audiences often dress the part of their favorite cast member, “so grab your fishnets and sharpen your stilettos. This show can’t stop partying.”
