MHCC Announces Culture Shapers Contest as Part of Annual High School Art Exhibit
Posted: April 1, 2011
Mt. Hood Community College (MHCC) is pleased to host the annual High School Art Exhibit, held each year in the Visual Arts Gallery on the Gresham Campus at 26000 SE Stark St. This year’s show was made possible by a grant from the City of Gresham Arts and Cultural Assistance Program.
Entries from area high school students will be evaluated for originality, technical skill, composition/use of elements and emergence of personal vision and voice. The student who best exhibits exceptional leadership, artistic vision and service to the community will receive the 2011 Culture Shapers Award. This new competition provides encouragement to area high school students who demonstrate commitment to the visual arts.
The judges for the show are Rip Caswell from Caswell Gallery in Troutdale, Ore., Kathy Allegri from Allegri Wine Shop and Gallery in Gresham, Ore., and Angela Passalacqua from Blackfish Gallery in Portland.
Selected artworks will be exhibited weekdays April 7-28, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. A gala opening reception will be held April 7, 5 – 8 p.m. in the gallery. Awards will be presented at 7 p.m.
