A Look at the Autumn Sky
Planetarium Show, Nov. 7
Posted: October 28, 2011
Mt. Hood Community College will present “Celestial Cornucopia” Nov. 7 in the Planetarium Sky Theatre.
Interim Planetarium Director Howard Knytych will point out objects in the autumn sky such as Jupiter, “which will have reached opposition on Oct. 29, meaning it will be as close to Earth as it gets, so it'll be big, bright, and prominent.”
Celestial Cornucopia will be presented live at 7 and 8:15 p.m. in the planetarium, located near the library on the Gresham Campus, 26000 S.E. Stark St.
Visitors are encouraged to ask questions during each 45-minute program. Children are welcome to attend. The planetarium is wheelchair accessible. Admission for the general public is $2 and free for MHCC students with identification. Planetarium shows are held the first Monday of each month, October through June.
Parking permits are required and may be purchased for $3 at ticket kiosks located by the flagpoles and gym.
Individuals requiring accommodations due to a disability should contact the MHCC Disability Services Office at 503-491-6923 or 503-491-7670 (TDD). Please call at least two weeks prior to the event to ensure availability.
