Sinkhole disrupts traffic around MHCC
Dec. 31, 2015 Update: We have posted an updated map of the area surrounding the Gresham campus. This now includes access to the Kane Street parking lot via 23rd Street.
Please prepare in advance for possible delays or additional traffic when entering and exiting the campus. Thank you for your patience.
Record rainfall opened a sinkhole on Kane Road between 23rd and 17th street on the afternoon of December 7, and subsequently the road is now closed to through traffic. Road repairs are expected to start soon, but the road is expected to be closed into the new year. Mt. Hood Community College is still open and operating under regular business hours, but access to the college has now changed due to detours around the area.
Parking Along Kane Road and the College's main Entrance.
Currently the only way to access the college's main entrance and the parking lots along Kane Road is by heading south on Hale Street from Stark Ave, then turning east on 29th street. This road leads directly to the main entrance of the college.
Parking in the South Campus near the Physical Education complex.
Because Kane is closed, access to the south lots can only come from the east, via Troutdale road.
Parking on the North Campus
Access to the north lots along Stark Ave is normal.
Public transportation services including the Blueline, and certain bus routes have also experienced disruption due to the flooding and sinkhole. Visit
www.trimet.orgfor the most recent information.
Please expect delays and exercise caution while coming to and from campus. The college appreciates everyone's patience during this time. We will continue to update the community when new information is available or changes occur. Visit
