Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Program Details

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program at Mt. Hood Community College is a six-month training program accredited by the Oregon Department of Education and the Oregon Health Authority, EMS and Trauma Systems Program. Our program follows the National Standard Curriculum set forth by the US Department of Transportation/National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. This includes the didactic, practical, clinical, and field internship training. This qualifies you to take the State of Oregon EMT Basic and the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) exams.

Hands-on Learning

Practical, hands-on training allows you to seek employment as a fire officer, EMT or puts you on a career path to become a paramedic. Once in the program, you will learn how to give basic medical care, like checking a person's breathing, treating wounds, and giving CPR.

After completing this program you'll be able to:

  • Be prepared to take the state and National Registry of EMT exams.
  • Be prepared to take required practical exams.
  • Start a rewarding career.
