June 16, 2023Mt. Hood Community College (MHCC) student Jill Aire has received the Oregon community college Outstanding Student Award from the Oregon Society of American Foresters (OSAF). Aire accepted the award at the 2023 OSAF Annual Meeting in Canyonville on May 11, 2023.
The community college Outstanding Student Award is presented annually to a community college student who is a member of the Society of American Foresters (SAF); participates regularly in their student chapter activities, including a leadership role of some kind; represents community college students at state or national SAF gatherings; and who demonstrates good academic standing, good citizenship, and excellence in extracurricular and professional work activities.
Jason Pinkerton, an instructor in the MHCC natural resources technology program who nominated Aire, shared that “Jill’s dedication to campus and community events is unparalleled by any other student I’ve nominate for this award in the past. She does a wonderful job formulating her thoughts and effectively communicating them to her fellow peers. Students and faculty trust her, value her leadership skills, and respect her decision-making.”
In recognition of Aire’s award, a donation was made in her name to the MHCC SAF student chapter.
