Paying for College
When you decide to go to college, one of the first things to consider is how you will pay for school. We are here to help you to navigate this process as you begin to take this exciting step toward your future.
Apply for Financial Aid
Even if you don’t think you qualify, you should still apply for financial aid to find out what federal and state aid may be available to you. Some scholarships require completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) as well. To do this you need to complete the FAFSA® or the Oregon Student Aid Application (ORSAA).
Contacting the Financial Aid Office
- If you have questions or need assistance, please email the financial aid office or call 503-491-7262.
- If you need to send documents to the financial aid office, please fax 503-491-7379.
Scholarships and other ways to pay for college
Be sure to explore other ways to cover costs including scholarships, employer reimbursement opportunities, and unemployment incentives. MHCC offers several scholarship opportunities, and other scholarships can be found through organizations and companies outside of MHCC.
Payment plan options
If you are paying out of pocket, a community college like MHCC is a great option for a high-quality education at a reasonable price. We try to make this even more affordable for you by offering payment plan options that allow you to split your payment into three equal payments spread out throughout the course of each term.
Enroll in the student installment payment plan through web financial services.
When is my payment due?
Tuition and fees are due on the first day of the term. If a student registers after the term begins, payment is due the same day. The student is responsible for ensuring payment in full by the published payment due date.
You will receive email notifications to view your eBill statements online before the start of the term. You can also access your account statements and information through MyMHCC. The student is responsible for ensuring payment in full by the published payment due date.
Failure to pay tuition/fees by the due date will result in late payment penalties. A $20 late fee is assessed on charges every 30 days past due with a maximum of $60.
How do I make a payment?
You can make a payment online, in person, or by mail. For most students, paying online through MyMHCC by credit/debit card or eCheck is most convenient. We are also happy to take payment in person by cash, check, money order, or credit/debit card or by mail with a check or money order.
If mailing in payment, be sure and write the student ID number on the memo line of the check, and mail all checks and money orders to:
