Title IX
MHCC is committed to fostering a space that promotes prompt reporting of sexual misconduct and timely and fair finding of sexual misconduct cases. Creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment is up to all of us.
MHCC has zero tolerance for sexual harassment, sexual assault, stalking, intimate partner violence, or dating violence on property owned, leased, or controlled by MHCC. Anyone found doing any of these will be subject to disciplinary action and prosecution in accordance with MHCC policies and Oregon’s state laws.
- Sexual assault: Any sexual contact made without consent. Consent is a clear yes, not the absence of no.
- Domestic violence: Asserted violence misdemeanor and felony offenses committed by the victim’s current or former spouse, current or former roommate, or anyone else protected under domestic or family violence law.
- Dating violence: Violence by a person who has been in a romantic or intimate relationship with the victim. Whether there was such a relationship depends on its length, type, and frequency of interaction.
- Stalking: A course of conduct directed at a specific person that would cause a reasonable person to fear for their own or other’s safety, or to suffer substantial emotional distress.
Need help? You are not alone.
According to a 2017 survey, 39.8% of Oregon women and 36.2% of Oregon men will endure intimate partner physical violence, intimate partner violence, and/or intimate partner stalking in their lifetimes.
This is not your fault. Healing is possible.
Sexual abuse survivors often feel alone and powerless. Guilt, shame, and fear are common feelings. Healing takes time, but there are a number of things that can help.
If you have been assaulted:
-
Call 911
-
Preserve evidence
-
Keep torn or stained clothing and go to an emergency room for treatment
-
Do not bathe or wash
-
Take pictures of your injuries
