After completing this program you'll be able to:
- Always ensure safety and regularly check your welding tools.
- Identify different welding equipment and learn their roles.
- Understand and follow blueprints when making and inspecting items.
- Set up and use welding and cutting tools effectively.
- Master various welding methods.
- Weld steel based on blueprint guidelines.
- Examine welds for any issues and know how to correct them.
- Ensure your welds meet AWS standards.
Courses and Curriculum
In this program, you’ll learn everything you need to know to be a competent welder. This accelerated certificate can be completed in just 26 credit hours and includes classwork and practical experience. The VESL/Accelerated Welding Technology program is not financial aid eligible. However, the related degree program, Integrated Metals AAS and the Welding Technology Certificate are aid eligible. Students are required to take IMTL020 Computation Skills for Metals Careers in preparation for this program. Students are required to maintain a minimum grade of “C” in all IMTL courses.
