Gas Metal and Flux Cored Arc Welder Certificate - How to Get Started
You can start the gas metal and flux-cored arc welder program any term. Students admitted to MHCC can sign up for classes in the program after reading, writing, and math placement requirements have been met.

Sign up for classes
After completing the placement requirements, you can sign up for classes. First-term students should sign up for these classes:
- IMTL140 Gas Metal and Flux Cored Arc Welding/Wire Feed (GMAW/FCAW)Theory (two credits)
- IMTL141 Gas Metal and Flux Cored Arc Welding/Wire Feed (GMAW/FCAW) Lab (three credits)
- IMTL172 Welding Certificate Program Lab II (one credit)

Additional Program Costs
In addition to Mt. Hood Community College tuition, fees, and textbooks, there is a Required Tool List you’ll need to purchase to complete your coursework. These tools will be yours to keep when you start your career. Several of the courses in this program also require an additional fee, most under $100.
Textbooks per term can range from $600-$1000, and can be purchased online through the college bookstore.
