These include filling out the admission form, figuring out how to pay for college through programs like the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) or the Oregon Student Aid Application (ORSAA), connecting with our staff to choose classes, and more.

Applied to MHCC? Here's what to do next

After you have been admitted to MHCC, you will need to meet the course registration requirements in reading, writing, and math.

Placement Requirements Needed to Get Started in This Program

Sign up for classes

After completing the placement requirements, you can sign up for classes. First-term students should sign up for these classes: 

• IMTL120 SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding/Stick) Theory (two credits)
• IMTL121 SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding/Stick) Lab (three credits)
• IMTL124 Blueprint Reading for Welding Applications (three credits)
• IMTL155 Industrial Safety (three credits)
• IMTL171 Welding Certificate Program Lab I (one credit)
• WR101 or WR121Z Workplace Communications I or Composition I (three to four credits)

Additional Program Costs

In addition to Mt. Hood Community College tuition, fees, and textbooks, there is a Required Tool List you’ll need to purchase to complete your coursework. These tools will be yours to keep when you start your career. Several of the courses in this program also require an additional fee, most under $100.

Textbooks per term range from $600-$1000, and can be purchased online through the college bookstore.
